There are moments when the mind becomes so full that everything begins to overlap. Thoughts, memories, emotions, fear, regret and hope all competing for the same space.
Flooded explores that feeling through a raw, fragmented portrait painted directly onto an authentic found FLOODED street sign. Loose, restless linework moves across the weathered yellow surface while the sign's original typography cuts unapologetically through the figure's face, turning a simple warning into something deeply human.
The scratches, dents, holes and imperfections of the original sign have intentionally been left visible. Rather than hiding its previous life, they become part of the artwork, adding another layer of history, damage and survival to the piece.
At the bottom, the handwritten words "With things that I should probably let go of" quietly complete the thought, transforming Flooded from a physical warning into an emotional one.
Created on a one-of-a-kind found object, Flooded exists somewhere between portraiture, street art and assemblage, a reminder of what happens when we carry too much for too long.
